Studio J Liu

Studio J Liu is the printmaking identity of Jenny Luzhen Liu (刘璐臻). She is based in Brooklyn, born in Queens, and a child of Chinese immigrant parents that found New York City as their entry point to the United States. She often draws upon her collective cultural upbringing (past - present), familial ancestry (real - imagined), and urban environment (past - present - real - imagined) as inspiration for her art.  All her works are limited edition reduction relief prints prepared from carved plywood or linoleum boards. All prints carry slight variations due to the unique pull off the press and are individually hand printed with care at Shoestring Press.
